Why Leeds is great for students

We think Leeds is one of the best cities in the county and THE best for students. No other place in the UK is able to offer so much within a short walking distance…

 Leeds’ nightlife is LEGENDARY!

We have more bars, clubs and restaurants than you can shake a stick at. We have something to suit every taste and preference. In to rock, dance, hip hop or funk? Leeds has a night out for you. Leeds city centre has over 180 pubs and bars, not including clubs and restaurants.

You can find live music at Church, Brudenell Social Club and the Belgrave Music Hall. While First Direct Arena and the O2 pulls in world famous acts. Small venues such as The Domino and Key Club offer a more intimate settings to showcase new talent.

The famous Otley Run is a must for any student starting at Woodies in Headingly all the way into Leeds city at the Dry Dock. 16 bars in total, making it a real challenge for any first years. If you want (and physically able) to continue the night you can head over to one of Leeds’ most famous nightclubs. You have plenty of choice with Mint, Warehouse and many others.

Boring, is defiantly not a word to use when describing Leeds.

Leeds is the home to many festivals such as Live at Leeds, Thought Bubble and of course, Leeds Festival. As a huge tech city, you won’t be short on career opportunities with Leeds Digital Job Fair and Leeds Digital Festival every year.

Of course, there is lots to do at the weekend such as escape rooms, paintballing and crazy golf. Got your family visiting? No problem take them to Leeds Museum, the Royal Armouries or take them on grewsome historical tour of medicine at the Thackery Museum. If you are looking for a night of pure culture, the Northern Ballet and the Grand Theatre all offer discounts to students. Alternatively, Leeds Gallery is free to visit and is a brilliant place for a bit of creative inspiration.

Location, Location, Location.

Leeds’ central location in the UK means that traveling anywhere doesn’t take very long. We 2 hours and 15 mins away from London and just under 3 hours to Edinburgh. If you fancy a weekend away, you can even hop on a plane to Dublin for as little as £30 each way!

As a Northern city, Leeds doesn’t suffer from the price hikes you can see in London and renting is significantly cheaper. Leeds has often been call the digital capitol of the North, with lots of huge businesses making the city their home. KMPG, Sky and now Channel 4 have their HQ in our fair city. There is so much opportunity here in Leeds to grow your career after graduating.
